Psalm 100

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting, and His faithfulness to all generations

The English word “worship” comes from two Old English words: weorth, which means “worth,” and scipeor ship, which means something like shape or “quality.” We can see the Old English word -ship in modern words like friendshipand sportsmanship – that’s the quality of being a friend, or the quality of being a good sport.

So worth-ship is the quality of having worth or of being worthy. When we worship, we are saying that God has worth, that he is worthy. Worship means to declare worth, to attribute worth. Or to put it in biblical terms, we praise God. We speak, or sing, about how good and powerful God is.

This is a purpose for which we are called: “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of himwho called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). We were called for the purpose of praising God, worshiping God. That is one of the job descriptions of a Christian. We should declare that God is worthy, worth more than everything else put together.

Times of worship are important to our church.  We see our times of worship as an opportunity for us as believers, as people who have experienced the grace, mercy and love of our God, to join together to praise God for what He has done for us.

Our worship team are a dedicated group of men and women who are using their gift of music to lead our church in worship every week.  From talented musicians to gifted singers, our worship team are dedicated to providing not only excellent times of worship, but to ensure that all praise and honour of God flows from their hearts.  They are always looking for new members so if you are good at music or just love to worship God, we encourage you to be a part of this powerful ministry today!
